When should you install an aluminium plinth?

When your property has uneven ground or sloping terrain and you want a clean transition between level and slope.
When the base of your fence is likely to encounter soil, mulch, irrigation spray or garden beds and you want an extra layer of protection.
When you are combining different fence panel materials (eg. aluminium slats over a solid base, or slats over Colourbond®) and want a visually defined separation.
When you desire a premium finish and architectural look — the plinth elevates the overall appearance.

Installation & Specifications

Fiddes Fencing sets out each plinth to site level, ensuring all panels sit firmly and evenly.
The plinth is factory powder-coated in the selected colour from our aluminium range (or matched to the Colourbond® palette when used in tandem).
We ensure correct clearance from ground, footings and any irrigation lines, and liaise with you about site preparation (e.g., ensuring vegetation or reticulation is clear).
Typical heights: the plinth can range from 100 mm up to 300 mm or more depending on site design and visual preference.
The plinth is secured into the same post/footing system as the fence panels, so it doesn’t compromise structural integrity—it becomes part of the overall system.

Maintenance & Care

Our aluminium plinths require very little maintenance — simply rinse off any dirt, mulch or spray residue at least once or twice a year.
Avoid using harsh cleaners or high-pressure water jets directly to the coating surface.
Keep surrounding vegetation trimmed so stormwater and mulch don’t accumulate along the base.
Inspect after major weather events for any debris build-up or minor impacts.
